About Benson & Co Security
Benson & Co Security provides locksmithing and electronic-security services for residential and commercial customers in Palmerston North and the wider Manawatū. Its services include locks, alarms and CCTV, with solutions for homes, shops, offices and other business premises.
Owned by Sam Brown, the business combines practical security advice with installation and service work. That range matters to its marketing: someone locked out of a property has a different immediate need from a business planning an alarm or camera installation. The profile needed to make the relevant services understandable and easy to find.

The challenge: reputation without matching search visibility
Benson & Co already had positive customer feedback, but the original project review found that its Google Maps visibility did not reflect that reputation. Important searches, including locksmith services in Palmerston North, were not consistently bringing the business into view.
The review also identified incomplete service information and a lack of clear reporting from its previous marketing arrangement. Sam needed to understand what would change, why it mattered and how the work would be monitored. The brief therefore combined profile improvements with a more accountable communication process.

Our work: profile structure, information and ongoing updates
OnlineNZ reviewed the Google Business Profile, including categories, service coverage, the business description and the way individual services were represented. The profile was rebuilt around the locksmith and security work the business provided, with clearer service information and relevant contact pathways.
Directory information was reviewed for consistency, and ongoing Google updates and review-response support formed part of the programme. Ranking checks and profile activity gave the work a review cycle. The emphasis was on maintaining a coherent business presence rather than leaving the profile unchanged after its initial setup.

Project results
The original case study reported positions of #1–2 for several locksmith-related searches within 30 days, alongside broader Google Maps visibility and increased calls and bookings. Examples included locksmith, emergency locksmith, key-cutting and commercial locksmith searches.
These are historical results from the project period, not a claim that every searcher sees the same ranking today. The continuing business benefit was a profile that described Benson & Co more completely, backed by regular updates and a clearer explanation of the work being carried out.

Why this project mattered
Security customers need to identify the right provider quickly and feel confident about making contact. A clear profile helps connect the specific problem—locks, alarms or CCTV—with the business equipped to respond.
The project illustrates the relationship between accurate service information, consistent local details and an ongoing management process. For another business, the starting point and scope would need to be assessed on their own merits rather than copying the same service list or expecting the same ranking timeline.

Project results describe the engagement reported in our original case study. They are not current rankings or a promise of results for another business.
